Practicing skills in RuneScape is one of the most tedious aspects of the game, although it is one players must suffer through if they desire to have a skilled, high level character capable of surviving in the game. One of the most tedious skills of all is mining. A word of caution before continuing: autominers are programmed by other players, some of which may not have users’ best interests at heart. Beware of autominers that ask for passwords or any other type of identifying information; they could be recording and sending this information to others. Many free autominers turn out to be scams, although don’t assume that paying for an autominer makes it completely safe. Also, RuneScape officials regard automining programs as illegal cheats and often shut down websites offering autominer programs and ban players who use them.
Gamers who want to use an autominer need only to do an internet search for “RuneScape autominer” to find a number of websites about the program. Then it’s just a matter of finding the autominer that does everything the player wants. Most autominers are simple to use, requiring players to only click a few icons to get them started. The first, most basic autominers simply automated the mining process, but the newer ones most available today automate much more. One autominer, for example, can be set to mine, fish, smelt, advertise, cook, craft, cut wood, and can record mouse clicks or other keystrokes to automate user-defined processes. To deceive any RuneScape moderators looking for automining characters, the new programs will even have characters go to sleep or take breaks like real players would.
Autominers are a way of taking the long,
potentially boring tasks and making them easier, but
they also result in an unfair advantage over players who
do not use autominers. Because of this, RuneScape
staff will ban players who use these illegal programs.
Also, as mentioned earlier, players must beware of scams
when downloading autominers, especially ones that ask
for passwords. Autominers can make the game go by
faster, but they can also cause problems for the unwary
gamer.
